more party!
The open house was held this afternoon with great success! Thanks so much to those family and friends from choir, church and long ago - it meant so much to me to see you today. Thanks also for cards and gifts... it is good to know that I have such strong support and encouragement at home. 6 more sleeps! Again, pictures are below.

a choral good-bye
This is not a good omen for when I am in Africa - it has taken me more than a week to add this post and I'm still in Canada! Last Wednesday, many of my lovely Hart House Chorus A-L-T-Os and other singers (who are not lucky enough to be A-L-T-Os) joined me at the Duke of York for a little good-bye par-tay. It was very fun - thank you, friends, for coming. You are very dear, and I will miss you. Below are some pictures of the merriment and mirth (click on them to make them bigger).

Ma famille is holding an open house to say au revoir on 29 May from 2-8 pm. It will be held chez moi, and all are welcome! For directions and any more info, please contact my parents or me. We would love for you to come!

a comment on the title
The title for my blog comes from the lovely movie Out of Africa with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. The entire quote says, "If I know a song of Africa... does Africa know a song of me?" I tend to think of it the other way around - that I will be the one learning Africa's song. Perhaps we will both teach each other.
